Oreille was established in 1989, in North Carolina while I was serving in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer specializing in Histotechnology. Oreille is part of the name of my first AKC registered dog, my Sommeil Oreille Languir, an adorable red and white Basset Hound. Oreille is French and means "ear". In my endeavor into Bassets I choose Oreille to be my kennel prefix and it has been ever since. I later purchased my first Pointer from Carol Jenkins of Winzlot and that would be my beginning into the breed. Oreille is pronounced -ORAY. The Oreille prefix is attached to every Basset (only 1 litter - 7 pups) and Pointer that I have bred with a few exceptions (i.e. some pups from co-bred litters). Our litters have produced only a modest amount Pointer puppies over a 31 year period in the breed. All sires were dams are generally AKC Champions and OFA'd for hips with only a few exceptions. We believe in QUALITY not quantity. I am a member in good standing of The American Pointer Club, Inc as well as a lifetime member. Oreille is also an AKC Breeder of Merit with many Champions to our credit. Oreille Pointers live all over the United States and in other countries as well. You could see our Pointers in conformation rings, obedience rings, rally rings, agility rings and fields near you. In 1991 after completing my Navy career, I returned home to Tucson, Arizona then on to Phoenix to further my Histology career. In 1996 after receiving a great opportunity we moved west (more west) to Southern California and resided in Riverside County for over 9 years until the winter of 2005, after which point we (along with my mother) headed to the Ozarks (in the Branson, Missouri area). The southwest kept calling us back and in late 2013 we made our way back to Southern California to the Morongo Basin. We did our last Pointer litter in 2014 and a co-bred litter in 2018. While we were hoping to do just one more litter it just did not work out.

In 2016 Oreille was introduced to the world of showing purebred Somali cats.  We enjoyed our time showing and trying to breed cats. It was not for the faint of heart. We have retired all our cats and rehomed our foundation sire and dam. Our home-bred boy "Navy" will reside with me forever.

Oreille has retired from showing and breeding Pointers as of 2021.  We are still interested in promoting our breed and try to help out at Meet the Breeds and will occasionally attend a show to visit. Helayne is a licensed UKC conformation judge and time depending may apply for my AKC license as well.  Champion Patrick is owned and loved by me and is in retirement at my home.  We are looking for a smaller breed for the future.
